An alternative to Starbucks for startups is to find a coworking space. Liz, Elam, the founder of Link Coworking was tired of hopping from one coffee shop to renting some other expensive venue for getting her work done. Her quest to find a comfortable work space led het to kick start Link Coworking.
Startups who are known to have limited resources can opt for coworking spaces to connect and innovate day in and out. This is one helluva option instead of working in isolation. Startups.fm spoke to Liz on why did she start with “Link Coworking”.
Why did you start Link Coworking?
“I worked out of my home for 9 years. I was lonely, bored and uninspired. I didn’t enjoy working from coffee shops and needed plugs, privacy and people. I love connecting people and hosting so I loved the idea of running a space. I went looking for a space that I fit and couldn’t find one that met my needs so I made my own. I differentiate myself in the crowded Austin market by providing a very diverse membership with a beautiful professional space. Read more on Shareable.net….”

What kinds of memberships does Link offer? How can they apply?
We offer punch cards for people that want to ease into Coworking ($300 for 10 visits). We also offer membership as low as $200 a month. All members have to pay a one-time set up fee of $200 to join. In order to work at Link you need to come in for a tour and then spend a free day working with us. This allows us to make sure Link is a fit for you that you fit into our community. All of the pricing is available here.
How do startups benefit out of Coworking?
A Coworking space is ideal for startups. In a coworking space you get your community every single day you join us. It’s not like a group that meets once a week or once a month, we’re available all the time. If you have a question to ask, you can ask a CFO, Entrepreneur, Small Business Owner, Freelancer or whomever is in the space that day. You can bounce ideas and get immediate feedback. In addition, you get a group of people that get to know you, support you and lift you up. We will bring you ideas, encouragement and camaraderie. In addition to giving you a community we have a low barrier to entry. You don’t need to go sign and expensive lease for your own office (where you would still be alone or just with your team) you can step into a readymade space. Working in a coworking space gives you more exposure than working in a garage or small office and you get the secret sauce too!
