We are 7 billion people on this planet and counting; but how many are working to make a difference? There is already a new movement on the horizons where some dreamers are working to make this planet have a peaceful co-existence. While changemakers have been lately crowdfunding to give shape to their discovery, Goodfruit marks the rise of a new community. A platform for dreamers and co-dreamers crowdfunding and crowdsourcing together. Yes at Goodfruit, the folks are working to empower these dreamcatchers!
“Are you bearing Good-Fruit”
Anthony Ogunbowale -Thomas is a London based entrepreneur who realized there are people with ideas/projects but no ‘co-founders’ or as he puts it ‘co-dreamers’. Looking around at crowdfunding platforms, there were none that allowed people to raise funds and source skills at the same time. By skills, he specifically identifies those people who are willing to put in their faith in those projects and contribute to the same. GoodFruit is all about a modern renaissance- knowing that crowdfunding can be used for something much more than just a nice tech site. GoodFruit calls those dreamers who could possibly be in that stage of having no co-dreamers. Their unconventional, challenging and standard thinking through what they believe is highly encouraged at GoodFruit. It is a platform where you can share cool projects with people. These dreamers are not just passionate about what they do but are equally concerned with who they are becoming into. GoodFruit looks to explore more of this facet with their offline community.
GoodFruit is about harnessing community and helping them to grow. It believes in sharing vision and work of projects found on GoodFruit, attract people through media sharing similar interests so that a connection is established. When people of similar interests get connected it results in support for projects, and ‘dreamers’ become ’doers’.
GoodFruit is about crowdfunding AND crowdsourcing- Funding is just one piece of the pie. This platform provides the opportunity for projects to specifically share areas that a particular skill could significantly contribute to. For example, a writer who has a fund of £10k can possibly specify/source a proofreader or a graphic designer, or maybe both! What follows next is the job of these dreamer to show their credentials- of their project as well as themselves- to win over support.
Fruit-Requirements at GoodFruit
GoodFruit is taking applications for the First Fruits which will be the initial projects highlighted once they launch. What the team is looking for is straight and simple- first the basic stuffs like is there a tangible outcome of the project? Anthony quotes “ We don’t accept ‘climb mount Kilimanjaro’ type projects unless you’re giving rocks you cut from the mountain as rewards”!!! If your project is not legal, it will be on the reject list forever! Also, it is vital that your project has a ‘value’- creating a project just for the sake of it is not entertained at GoodFruit. GF is conscious of keeping their value as a brand in mind!! They are looking for ‘Diversity’- Dreamers who really test the waters (with reason, of course) are the breed of dreamers GF wishes to see on their platform! You need not have ‘deep’ projects, they can be fun ones too, but they need to have a value for being created and also should be merged with a tinge of “out of the box” idea!
GoodFruit is ‘Fruit-based’
GoodFruit is, as Anthony calls it “Fruit based”! There are great innovators, and that’s awesome. GF hopes to maintain this tradition! However, they don’t want to compromise on their wish to see great people, leaders and influencers, creators and thinkers who stand or stood for something. There are many common folks who have something creative to share. GoodFruit is an avenue for them! Being the founder, Anthony says “It’ll take a journey, to fully see GoodFruit be GoodFruit-as with any fruit, it takes time to grow!”
Too many Dreamers make up this Dream-Board!
Many dreamers have come together to form this platform – Lot of like minded people have and are joining GF from its earlier days! When we asked Anthony to mention names, he told us there are too many to name. Still he managed to spill out some names- Daniel Skead, Louise Medley, Stephan Eyeson, Val Quay, Nathalie Pownall, Ben Silcox, Annie Kirke, Tyrone Curran and a whole community of dreamers and doers!! Yet, again and again, he repeated, there are too many who have been with GoodFruit through thicks and thins! Presently bootstrapped, this startup is planning to come out in open in early October this year. So,if you have a dream that has the potential to be big, just a month or so to go! GoodFruit will be soon out there helping your nurture your dreams!
