What happens to an average guy with a brilliant idea? In most cases, idea turns into trash, because he is told that he is average, he needs to do a 9to5 job and his ideas are mere figments of his dreams! Normally that average guy would agree and move ahead with his “settled” job. But, those with passion to do something in their spare time, cannot rest until their ideas become a reality! Talking about reality, lets get things straight- collaborators are hard to find, talents are expensive, market is huge and the race is fierce. While you are thinking about that average guy and his problems, and pitying him- Sagi Meller, another average guy in Israel just solved these problems. He had an idea and he had the passion to give it a concrete shape. He calls it “ATeam4ADream”.
Sagi Meller has been working for many years in high-tech businesses as an Electrical Engineer and in Senior Technical Managerial Positions dealing with design, methodology, quality and efficiency! Years of working taught him that everyday work doesn’t fulfil one’s creative or technical desires. As kids, we were constantly pushed to explore our creative or technical skills, do what we loved to- but once we grow up, its a different story. You do some exciting work as well as non-exciting work with equal enthusiasm because money is sweeter than honey! Meller doesn’t ask you to leave your job- but he is creating a platform where you can live your dreams.
You need a Team? Welcome to “ATeam4ADream”
Once again, getting back on reality check, only a creative idea and an urge to make something is not what brings you success. You need other skilled people sharing your vision on board. However, if you shout “I need a team” you don’t get one! Most people do not have direct familiarity with skilled people- Meller himself didn’t have one. Though there are freelancing sites where you can find skilled people. You can get connected to them and talk to them for hours and days! But when it comes to implementation it is still quite expensive!
Meller was looking for teammates who would share the same vision, collaborate on ideas and make them happen-Whether it is a prototype of some complex idea needed to be feasibly proved or some small scale project ideas like applications that can be actually built together from ground up! The big question was- where to find such a specific group of people looking for such engagements, to whom you can present your ideas, get feedbacks and move forward with them. Your collaboration can be long term or short term. That’s when Meller founded “ATeam4ADream” – a one stop shop for meeting, engaging, collaborating and sharing success, so that no one is left behind.
Since Meller himself is bootstrapping, he can be designated as the main founder. “ATeam4ADream” has Kobi Levi as its co-founder. Kobi is a visual communication teacher and expert. They use a well appreciated India-based website implementation Company- Octal Info Solution. Also external advisers as in legals , which are done by a well-known US attorney and go to market strategy guidance by a serial entrepreneur and blogger from the UK. Except for Kobi, Meller got connected with all of the others through the internet. Thus Meller happily calls his team “International”. At present he is moving ahead at a steady pace interviewing some technical and Management professionals to join him as local co-founders.
An Average Guy can build his own Team to Back his Ideas
“ATeam4ADream” understands the plight of an average guy who cannot opt for outsourcing, who needs like-minded people to work as a team, and also an easy way-out to deal with legal matters, so that legal nightmares don’t disturb his sleep at night. On this platform every member (whether someone with an idea or an expert willing to contribute to an idea) will have a profile so that you can search and interact with people you feel will match your wavelength at work. If you have an idea, you can post it publicly, or selectively invite others for a one-on-one discussion. Then you can have a simple project workroom and job workrooms to collaborate.
There are various features to create trust and safety, legal contracts between collaborators, and practical success sharing solutions. These features will prove to be also valuable for teams who haven’t met on this platform. ‘ATeam4ADream” team aims to have a full flow from idea conception to success sharing. The challenge for this startup is to make this easy and with a push of a button- It is hard, but Meller believes it is doable!
It’s a platform to share ideas and success
“ATeam4ADream” is not like any other networking platforms (Like LinkedIn or Biznik). People don’t get to share ideas, work and share success on those platforms. You can find your dream team or bring in your own, and sign in a customizable easy-to-use contract.
Target market with highest demands are applications, software and websites; and least to say they have quite a number of problems that “ATeam4ADream” aims to solve. Certain issues creating the fuss are: relatively small scale projects, expensive development, hard to find good ideas, suitable online collaborators. “ATeam4ADream” starts with resolving these issues. Thus, on this platform be sure to meet awesome developers, cool designers, UX people, system definers, and people with ideas. Like Meller says, “..To design an app for example, you may just need someone with an idea, a developer and a designer. Mentors and advisors may also be available”.
Target Dreamers on this Platform
“ATeam4ADream” also opens doors to students and graduates with extraordinary skills who wish to enrich their portfolio. There is the big dormant crowd of salary employed skilled people working in big high-tech companies that are currently not in the game. Since Meller himself is associated with this industry, he can actually visualize the problems. However, these people have fewer alternatives available to them as it is less appropriate for a high tech employee to be a freelancer. It is legitimate, though, to collaborate in their spare time on ventures unrelated to work. “ATeam4ADream” is actually carving a new path for this group. The next step is to make these people know about it and get them in.
Another group of people on whom Meller is still having second thoughts is go-to-market activities experts like marketing and business development definers and implementers, social media experts, writers, lawyers, promotion movie makers, etc. Founder Meller hopes to complete this refinement after having discussions with the early subscribers in order to build this platform the way they need it.
“Whatever it takes to keep it going…”
Meller feels that he could have started up at any corner of the world since it is a global project. He came in contact with excellent people on the internet, and thus, his location wouldn’t have mattered that much! Reflecting back on his experiences till date, Meller suggests spending enough time looking out for alternatives on the internet once an awesome idea strikes you. “It takes almost two weeks of hard digging to actually know what to look for in order to find competitors and understand if the solution is unique”- A quote from the founder! Meller agrees that bootstrapping from your own pockets is no less than an emotional roller coaster- one day you think the idea and implementation are great and another day you find out it is not as good or that you need to do a major pivot
The key words are “Be Strong”. This is one reason Meller urges you not to give up on your job in the fit of excitement of having a great idea. Your job will help your ride be little moderate. Meller believes that sometimes you just need someone to push or guide you.and he has happily offered % in stake holdings to people that did just that in critical times. Whatever it takes to make it keep going …
If you have an idea that has the potential to solve practical problems, join “ATeam4ADream” and meet your teammates, work with them, and share success. Your ideas can now have wings to soar high!
