The rise of Facebook has been an uphill challenge. The growth of Facebook as an engagement channel has brought in a plethora of apps and tools that have enabled businesses and brands to make marketing campaigns viral. Its catchy, and its cost effective. For users, everytime they want to book flight tickets to travel, they unlock exciting offers and discounts. Flying is definitely not boring anymore. The three most proven tricks for marketing on Facebook have been recorded to be:
- Content that can capture more “Likes” and/or emails that can help build an awesome fan base and subscriber list.
- To arrange online competitions and set some exciting giveaways that will draw in participants.
- Offering discounts or coupons for various products and services.
Why Are Big Brands turning to Facebook for Campaigning?
They are viral and helps in better interaction through Gamification and amazing Conversions.
Did you think campaigns were for grounded ones?? The ones flying high up in the sky are leaving no stones unturned to come up with their Facebook Campaigns. The best Airlines are arranging deals that will make them soar higher. Where? Right here on Facebook. Well for airlines, engaging their passengers on social media landscape has become essential for branding.
Few Best Airline Campaigns
Topping our lists is AirAsia that had recently launched the “1 Million Free Seats” campaign on Facebook. Those booking tickets on AirAsia between 17 September, 2013 to 22 September, 2013 for the travel period ranging between 7 January, 2014 and 5 August, 2014 could be lucky enough to win one seat out of the 1 million being offered. However, all airfares would exclude airport taxes and fees. Along with the campaign, there was a bonus too- they were giving away 20x Bonus Big Points to every 200th successful redemption.
The campaigns had some key points to look out to:
- It was advised to use Internet Explorer 9 or Mozilla Firefox.
- Only 10 minutes were available to surf through the flights.
- If 10 minutes were over, then it would direct you straight to the “waiting-room”.
Recently, if you tune into the Facebook page, you will find an attractive banner saying “Thanks” to all the 2 million fans who have “liked” their page and have contributed in making AirAsia the most loved airline brand.
The next campaign that took our attention is from the desks of Emirates.
Emirates is going to offer 100 free tickets to 2013 FORMULA 1® AIRTEL INDIAN GRAND PRIX scheduled on 27 October 2013.
Till October 16, all those who book flights on Emirates to any one of the 135 destinations Emirates caters to before November 30, stand a chance to win a ticket to this awesome race! If you are an Emirate Skywards, or if you are not, you can enter this competition by just answering one question on Formula 1. Also, being a non-Emirates Skyward doesn’t exclude you from the additional benefits that Skywards actually enjoy! Emirates happens to be the global partner to Formula 1.
We liked the offer made by Malaysia Airways- “Boarding Pass Privilege Program” at Singapore. Discount is being offered to flight fares to Singapore from
- Delhi: INR INR 22,915
- Mumbai: INR 23,242
- Chennai: INR 22,062
- Hyderabad: 28,258
- Bangalore: INR 26,284
When a tourist presents the boarding pass at the counter they would be able to avail various discounts that are being offered as a privilege. This offer is valid till 31 December, 2013.
The last case study we loved happened way back in 2010 by Delta Airways.
Delta Airways already has their own “Away We Go” Facebook Traveler App. Through this app, users can insert their favourite locations and post a picture, along with which they can invite their friends to travel with them.
In 2010, delta Airways had launched “The Delta Ticket Window” -a Facebook application. It enabled people to find, book and share flights via “Book a Trip” tab visible on the facebook page. The aim of this was to keep the users on Delta’s Facebook page for the duration of the booking process, and also give them opportunity to share their booked flights with friends.
