Baltic Car is happy to announce its launch, as the first Baltic car-sharing website. Inspired by the other European car-sharing websites, Baltic Car now enables users in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to find a driver or passenger to share a ride in the Baltic region.
In a context of rising prices for oil and car insurance, car-sharing is a clever way for drivers to decrease the cost of their car by sharing a ride with passengers that go the same way. Going to countryside for the weekend ? Going to university for the week ? Students, travelers, and tourists, everyone can use the website and find a “ride-mate” going the same way to share a ride.
The difference compared with the traditional method, is that now you can know in advance with who you’ll be travelling, and rate your experience for other users. The site is totally free to use for both drivers and passengers and acts as an intermediary platform to guarantee security of transaction and pleasant rides to both the driver and the passenger through a rating system and a deep social aspect.
Drivers can register an account, specify their car characteristics and their “mood” while traveling (smoking, pets, music, chattiness). Each time they go for a ride and have empty seat, they can list their itinerary on the site and decide the price for each seat, in order to share their expenses.
Passengers looking for a ride, on the other side, can freely browse the site without registering, and see profile of drivers, with their ratings from previous passengers. In case they want to book a ride, they simply need to create an account, for example using Facebook Connect and pay online to confirm their trip. The driver will be notified, and he will receive the payment only once the passenger confirmed the ride.
This way, it’s safe for everyone, and both, passengers and drivers can enjoy a fun and comfortable ride. The site aims at becoming the n°1 website for car-sharing in Baltic states and wants to offer its community more benefits, through partnerships with major partners that will help drivers and passengers to enjoy their rides (such as free parking, free treats, .
